

With a sound that strives for balance between clarity and emotion, Nicolás Cabaleiro Somoza (Pontevedra, 1998) has established himself as a versatile and expressive oboist, performing at some of the world’s most iconic venues, such as Carnegie Hall (New York), Megaron Moussikis (Athens) and the Dresden Philharmonie.Completing his studies at MUSIKENE with Christian Wetzel, where he was awarded the opportunity to perform as a soloist with the Wind Orchestra, he continued his artistic development at the Staatliche Musikhochschule Mannheim with Emmanuel Abbühl, with whom he is currently pursuing postgraduate studies.He has participated in the Orchester Akademie Rhein-Neckar, playing with orchestras such as the Nationaltheater Mannheim and the Staatsphilharmonie Rheinland-Pfalz, and has taken his music to ensembles such as the Philharmonie Orchester Baden-Baden, Staatstheater Darmstadt, Bilbao Orkestra Sinfonikoa, KNSO Academy Orchestra and the Moritzburg Festival Academy Orchestra. He has also played with the Helsingborg Symphonieorchester.He is a member of the JONDE and the Oreka Reed Quintet, and has worked with conductors such as Peter Eötvös, Stefan Blunier, Christoph König and Maxime Pascal. His training is complemented by classes with renowned oboists such as Washington Barella, Jacques Tys, Eric Speller and Eduardo Martínez.
